Smart & Sustainable Hospitality Committee Report
In February 2026, the International Luxury Hotel Association convened senior development, ownership, and operational leaders for the Smart & Sustainable Hospitality Committee, sponsored by Crestron. The roundtable explored how luxury properties are integrating automation, modular construction, predictive energy systems, and wellness-driven design, without compromising comfort or the high-touch service that defines the segment.
“Luxury at the end of the day is seamlessness,” noted Jordan Bem, Co-Founder of Moliving Inc., emphasizing that technology must enhance, not complicate, the guest experience. Mark Zikov, Director of Acquisitions & Development at Proper Hospitality, reinforced the revenue upside of wellness integration, sharing how recovery-focused rooms and membership models are driving ADR premiums and long-term loyalty.
Meanwhile, Julie Kee of The Belize Collection reminded the group that sustainability is sometimes about restraint: “Knowing when not to use technology is just as important.” The discussion made one thing clear: the future of luxury hospitality lies in invisible automation, responsible data use, integrated wellness, and sustainable construction, delivered so intuitively that guests never feel the mechanics behind the magic.
