Waldorf Astoria Bangkok Enhances Guest Experience With IRIS Digital Ordering and Guest Directory

Hilton-approved IRIS system brings seamless mobile ordering, convenient access to guest information, and enhanced service to one of Thailand's most prestigious luxury hotels.

IRIS, which works with more than 2,000 hotels across 100 countries in digital F&B ordering and guest experience solutions, has been selected by Waldorf Astoria Bangkok to power its digital guest experience. The deployment launches IRIS's Hilton-approved Digital Guest Directory alongside Mobile Ordering for in-room dining across all 171 luxury guestrooms.

The deployment forms part of the hotel's ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences through intuitive technology, giving guests convenient access to hotel information, F&B ordering, spa services, and local recommendations while supporting a seamless and personalised stay.

Located in the heart of Bangkok's Ratchaprasong district, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is known for its sophisticated design, award-winning dining, and personalised luxury service. By implementing the IRIS system, the hotel is enhancing the guest journey with a fully branded digital experience that reflects the Waldorf Astoria identity.

Commenting on the implementation, Paweena Waraha, Hotel Manager, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, said:

"Luxury hospitality is about anticipating our guests' needs and delivering thoughtful, personalised service at every stage of their stay. Today's travellers value the convenience of being able to access key information and services from their own devices, and IRIS enables us to provide that flexibility while maintaining the exceptional level of personal service our guests associate with Waldorf Astoria.
"For us, technology should complement rather than replace personal service. IRIS gives our guests greater choice and convenience while giving our team more time to deliver meaningful guest interactions that sit at the heart of the Waldorf Astoria experience."

Guests can now browse hotel services, discover local attractions, access concierge information, and order in-room dining directly from their own mobile device by scanning discreet QR codes positioned within each guestroom. The system is also promoted during check-in and through pre-arrival communications, enabling guests to explore relevant information and services ahead of their stay.

Replacing traditional printed guest directories and room service menus was a key objective for the hotel, enabling information to be updated quickly without the lead times associated with reprinting materials. Content can now be refreshed in minutes, helping ensure guests have access to current information while supporting the hotel's sustainability goals by reducing reliance on printed directories and menus.

The introduction of IRIS Mobile Ordering also enhances the in-room dining experience. Guests have the choice to browse visually rich digital menus complete with photography, ingredient information, allergen details, and customisation options before placing their order directly from their device.

Fully integrated with the hotel's Oracle MICROS POS, orders placed through the system are sent directly to the kitchen, removing the need for staff to manually re-enter them and helping to improve order accuracy and service efficiency. The system also enables breakfast pre-ordering, allowing guests to schedule breakfast in advance for additional convenience and flexibility.

Marcus Bird, Chief Revenue Officer at IRIS, added:

"Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is recognised for delivering exceptional luxury experiences, so we're delighted to support the hotel in enhancing the guest journey through digital innovation.
"Luxury guests increasingly value seamless digital convenience alongside the personal service that distinguishes a truly exceptional hotel stay. Our platform is designed to complement that human interaction by giving guests intuitive access to information and services whenever they choose, while enabling hotel teams to focus their time where it has the greatest impact.
"At the same time, digital ordering can deliver valuable operational and commercial benefits. Direct integration with the POS can reduce manual processes and support service efficiency, while visual digital menus, convenient ordering, and pre-ordering capabilities create additional opportunities to capture F&B spend and retain more revenue within the hotel.
"We're proud to be Hilton-approved and to work with prestigious properties such as Waldorf Astoria Bangkok as they continue to enhance the modern luxury guest experience."

For the hotel team, the technology supports more efficient service delivery while complementing the personal interactions at the heart of luxury hospitality. By reducing routine information requests and manual order processing, front desk and restaurant colleagues can dedicate more time to personalised, attentive service and meaningful guest engagement.

The implementation reflects the growing role of digital guest technology in luxury hospitality, where intuitive digital convenience can work alongside personal service to enhance the guest journey, support hotel teams, and create a more seamless stay.
