Canouan Group Signs UN Disability Inclusive Employer Pledge at Caribbean HireAbility Campaign Launch
Canouan Group represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the regional launch of the United Nations' HireAbility Campaign on August 27, 2026, a Caribbean-wide initiative advancing disability-inclusive employment under the theme "Break Barriers. Embrace Inclusion. Champion Rights."
As one of the first signatories of the Disability Inclusive Employer Pledge, Canouan Group committed to equitable hiring practices and inclusive workplace standards aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The group's representation was led by Vaibhav Garg, Group Director of Human Resources at Carenage Bay Holding Ltd, alongside fellow signatories Runman Belize Corporation and Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited.
Why It Matters for Hospitality
International Labour Organisation data shows persons with disabilities experience approximately 30% lower labor force participation rates and earn 12% less per hour than counterparts without disabilities. The campaign, which runs through December 3, 2026, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, connects six UN Country Teams across English and Dutch-speaking Caribbean territories to close that gap through employer-led action.
